Otto Kauko, MD PhD, is a biochemist and a medical doctor holding a tenure-track position in Turku Bioscience Centre, University of Turku & Åbo Akademi. He is the head of an advanced proteomics core facility and leads his research group focusing on protein phosphorylation, cancer cell growth regulation, and kinase inhibitor resistance. During his career Dr. Kauko has done pioneering work to identify phosphorylation targets of protein phosphatase 2A, and on therapeutic potential of modulating PP2A activity in cancer cells ( Sci Transl Med 2018). In addition to extensive experience in proteomics methods, Dr. Kauko has also contributed to developing and applying precision genome editing methods to study phosphorylation site functions ( Nat Biotechnol 2023).
